The Computer Services Department coordinates with all library departments, creating, facilitating, sustaining, and continually upgrading the many technological services offered at the library in our mission to help the public satisfy its information needs. Among other things, this department assists the public in the operation of all software and hardware available at the library, performs continual staff training, installs and updates all software and computer hardware, maintains all acquired and internally developed software and hardware solutions, secures systems, administers local networks, manages internal e-mail systems, raises staff and public electronic resource awareness, develops staff and public use databases, instructs patrons, designs and publishes printed and electronic materials for staff and public education, digitizes documents for the Local History Department's Digital History Initiative, surveys new technological capabilities for possible deployment in the library, works with the with the Ramapo Catskill Library System in resolving related technical issues and facilitating access to licensed data delivery services, promotes all library activities, consults with the Library Director in all technical matters, and ensures the trouble-free technological operations of our institution every day so all departments can faithfully execute and fulfill their vital roles in the library's public mission.
