Library Director's Report - February 10, 2016 1. The Library District has received a memorial donation in the name of Carol Ann Werner. A letter of Thanks has been sent in response. 2. We have received our 2016 funding from the Town of Wawayanda. 3. RCLS will once again participate in NYLA Advocacy day which will take place on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. RCLS is encouraging member library staff, friends, trustees and library champions to go to Albany and speak with our legislators about the importance of funding for NYS Library Systems. The bus registration deadline is February 26, 2016. 4. We have hired a part-time security officer from the list of qualified candidates provided by Orange County Civil Service. This Officer is a replacement hire made necessary by a resignation in December 2015. 5. We have called for the list of qualified candidates for part-time Librarian I from Orange County Civil Service. Canvas letters have been sent and interviews will take place shortly. 6. I will be submitting the Library District's 2015 Annual Report to the State of New York in advance of the February 8, 2016 filing deadline. 7. The Library is featuring an art exhibit in the Reading Room featuring submissions for the "Posters for Peace" contest sponsored by the Middletown Lions Club. The exhibit will be on display for the next couple of weeks. 8. Performance evaluations for full-time clerical staff will begin in the latter part of February 2016. I have attended the following meetings in January: Middletown Business Improvement District (BID), RCLS Director's Association, RCLS Continuing Education Committee, RCLS Director's Roundtable, and Remarkable Reads Book Discussion.
