JAMES STREET POST OFFICE BUILDING (James St., commer of West Main, now Police Dept.): Construction of the Post Office began July 25, 1910. The top photo shows how the site looked September 9, 1910. The cornerstone was laid with great ceremony November 5, 1910. The middle photo shows the site Decerniter 9. 1910. These two photos by F. William Medrick. The building was completed in September, 1911, and dedicated November 16. 1911. The present post office on Fulton St. was opened July 23, 1966. The James St. building was converted to the police station and occupied in 1972. Below is an interior view of the James St. post office. City hall can be seen under construction in the top two photos.
