ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH (Cottage Street): When the original St. Joseph's (built 1867) became no longer suitable, the present church was constructed and dedicated May 9, 1880). Arthur Crooks was the architect. The church, as built, is shown in ac1892 photo above. The steeple was added later, as seen in ac1910 photo at left.
SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH (Roberts Street The Old School Baptist Meeting House was dedicated November 29, 1871. The architect and general contractor was Thomas Butcher. The building was purchased by The Seventh Day Adventists in 1931, The Second Baptist Church, organized in 1932, built a church on Fulton Street which was later demolished during Urban Renewal. They acquired the Roberts Street building in 1961, marching there from their old church July 9, 1961. A 1982 photo of the church is shown below. (Photo by Peter Laskaris).
