Building & Grounds: Ms. Lange reported on Building & Grounds.
The Library was open on New Year's Eve between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm. I
have received complaints that on this day the second floor bathrooms were locked and
unavailable to the public for an extended period of time. These closures caused lines to
form in the Reading Room with people waiting to use the bathrooms. I have spoken with
the custodian on duty that day who informed me that there was an extremely unsanitary
condition in the second floor men's bathroom that required extensive sanitization. The
custodian then locked the second floor women's room to prevent it from being used by
both men and women simultaneously. I have informed custodial staff that my expectation
is that the library's public restrooms will remain open to the public for the maximum
amount of time possible during the library's hours of operation.
I have contacted two HVAC companies who had agreed to provide us with estimates on
our boiler replacement project to ask when I should expect to receive their proposals. I
will continue to contact other HVAC companies to secure bids.
I have received no further reports of materials infested with insects and our exterminator
has not reported any evidence of infestation in the collection or in the building.
I. Old Business
