Are you new to databases? Please consider visiting our
introduction to databases page first.
Databases and other online subscription services available to Thrall patrons through
www.Thrall.org
are provided remotely by publishers and third parties.
The library
subscribes to but
does not control these services. That said, if do you experience any technical issues,
please let us know so we can investigate further.
Usually, these services are available 24/7, even when the library is not
open for business.
Occasionally, one or more of those online services could be rendered temporarily inaccessible by providers for various reasons, such as:
- network outages
- hardware issues
- software upgrades
- system maintenance
Some tips to keep in mind:
- Databases and other electronic reference services listed at Thrall.org are provided primarily for active members of Middletown Thrall Library.
- Most databases/services can be accessed from home (i.e. outside of the library).
- On any database information page, please see the Access Options panel to learn if a database is available outside the library.
- To log into one of these services, you should have an up-to-date library card. Please follow this link to learn if you qualify for a Thrall library card.
- When entering your library card number, please enter all the digits carefully and without any spaces.
- Some databases will now offer you the option to log in by location: if you are within New York at the time and opt to share your location, you can log in using this method.
- Most of these online services require a fairly up-to-date Web browser.
- Not all publishers have adapted or optimized their services for mobile device access.
- Some educational services (such as Universal Class or Rosetta Stone) do require an active e-mail address and free registration so you can log in later and keep track of your progress.
- Sometimes logins and sessions time-out, causing the database/service to be inaccessible until you log back in. If this happens, please return to our main menu, locate the service you wish to access, and try logging in again.
- Most databases/services accessed within Middletown Thrall Library library do not require you to log in with a library card.
- Some services, such as Ancestry Library Edition or Newspaper Archive are available only within our library due to licensing restrictions.
