Note:
"The village of Middletown may be said to date from the origin of the First Congregational Church. Previous to that time there was no indication that the locality would become a hamlet more than any other place in the neighborhood." Franklin B. Williams. On June 10, 1785, the church was formally organized by people in the area of what is now Middletown. "Christ Church Universality Church was dedicated December 29, 1901. The memorial stained glass windows were done by the studios of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The church was designed by Frank J. Lindsey. In 1961 the name was changed to the Unitarian Universalist Church."
