The Winter in Anna - Reed Karaim - Twenty-year old Eric dropped out of college and found himself in the Badlands of South Dakota where he took a job at a small weekly newspaper. There he met Anna who became a close friend but remained a mystery. After he hears of Anna's suicide, a middle-aged Eric tells the story of their growing friendship over a year of small-town reporting. A bittersweet reflection on choices made and the resulting consequences. Lucky Boy - Shanthi Sekaran - Desperate for a better life, single mother Soli comes to California where she finds work as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. Kavya, an Indian-American chef, wants nothing more than to have a child. Their stories intertwine when Soli is sent to immigration detention and her son, Ignacio, is placed in foster care. Sekaran skillfully explores immigration, privilege and motherhood with a sympathetic look at both women in this moving novel.

 The Hollow Men - Rob McCarthy - In this compelling debut, former Army medic and on-call police surgeon, Harry Kent treats teen Solomon Idris who has taken a fast-food restaurant hostage. When someone tries to kill the injured Solomon, Kent must find out who wants the teen silenced and what scheme led him to the drastic act of taking hostages.

 The Bear and the Nightingale - Katherine Arden - In the northern wilderness of medieval Russia, young Vasya befriends the local spirits that protect her village from evil. Under the influence of her pious stepmother and a new priest, the village begins to turn from the old ways weakening the protective spirits. When two supernatural powers threaten, it is up to Vasya and her magical gifts to fend off the darkness. For fans of Uprooted, The Night Circus, or Neil Gaiman. Memoirs of a Polar Bear - Yoko Tawada - This whimsical translation follows the multi-generational saga of three celebrities. The matriarch of the clan was an entertainer in Russia whose fame went international with the publication of her autobiography. Her daughter trained in ballet in East Germany, but gained fame as a circus act. Her son becomes a global sensation with his work at a Berlin zoo. An engaging, thought-provoking tale whose protagonists just happen to be polar bears. Heartstone - Elle Katharine White - Aliza Bentaine's mother is determined to marry off her headstrong daughter to a well-connected dragon rider. Alistair Daired arrives expecting a fight with gryphons, but ends up in a battle of wills with Aliza. Soon both must face a greater battle with an ancient and powerful evil. This debut adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is sure to please Jane Austen fans, with characters true to the originals, as well as fantasy fans, with its strong world-building.

 Goliath - Shawn Corridan and Gary Waid - Filled with oil and other secret cargo, the largest commercial tanker in the world runs aground in flames. When it is officially declared salvage, down on his luck Sonny Wade and his crew arrive first, but must contend with a ship in flames, leaking oil, sabotage and the unforgiving weather of the Bering Sea in this action-packed thriller. Sure to please fans of Clive Cussler. The Girl in Green - Derek B Miller - Soldier Arwood Hobbes and journalist Thomas Benton met in 1991 at the end of the Gulf War when they witnessed the murder of a young girl wearing a green dress. Powerless to save her, the event haunts them for over twenty years. When Hobbes sees a video with what looks like her surviving a mortar attack, he calls Benton, summoning him to Syria and a dangerous journey to find her and redemption.
